Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel, comprising 2,134 Officers and 5,338 Marshals in what officials describe as a major career progression exercise. A statement made available to the madia in Abuja weekend explained that the aimed was to reward merit, strengthening professionalism and injecting renewed energy into the Corps’ leadership and operational structure.
The Corps said the exercise forms part of its continuing commitment to human capital development, recognising the dedication, competence, discipline and years of service of personnel who have distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties. Officials described the elevation of the affected personnel as more than a change in rank, calling it a renewed call to greater responsibility, higher standards and more impactful service to the Nigerian motoring public.
Under the new arrangement, Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers have been directed to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their respective commands from Wednesday, 26 August to Friday, 28 August 2026, in line with the Administrative Instruction on the Decoration of Newly Promoted Officers and Marshals.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, described the promotion as both a reward and a responsibility, stressing that every new rank must translate into a higher level of professionalism, accountability, leadership and service delivery. He said the strength of the FRSC is not measured only by its patrol vehicles, technology or enforcement architecture, but fundamentally by the quality, character and commitment of the men and women who stand between road users and the consequences of unsafe road behaviour.
Mohammed congratulated the newly promoted personnel and charged them to see their elevation as a mandate to do more, lead better and serve with greater distinction. He reminded them that every additional stripe, pip or insignia represents increased expectations from the Corps, the Federal Government and the Nigerian people.
The Corps Marshal further emphasised that promotion within the FRSC must continue to serve as an instrument for building a professional, responsive and performance-driven institution capable of meeting the evolving demands of road safety management in Nigeria. He urged the newly promoted Officers and Marshals to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating discipline on and off the road, treating members of the public with dignity, upholding the integrity of the Corps and remaining uncompromising in the pursuit of safer roads.
The promotion comes as the Corps intensifies its operational, technological and public enlightenment interventions aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations nationwide. Officials noted that a motivated and professionally developed workforce remains central to sustaining these interventions and achieving measurable improvements in road safety outcomes.
The newly promoted personnel have been charged to carry their new responsibilities with renewed purpose, with the Corps stressing that rank in the FRSC is not merely worn, but earned, entrusted and ultimately measured by service.
The Corps has congratulated all the promoted Officers and Marshals and wished them greater success as they assume their new responsibilities in service to the nation.
