By Onu Okorie

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi, on his birthday, which falls on July 25.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Umahi’s passion, dedication to duty and patriotism, recognising his sustained efforts in delivering durable road infrastructure across the country.

Before his appointment as Minister of Works, Umahi represented Ebonyi South District in the Senate. He earlier served two terms as Governor of Ebonyi State, from May 2015 to May 2023, a period during which the state recorded notable infrastructural development.

President Tinubu urged the minister to accelerate the pace of road construction, rehabilitation and delivery nationwide, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s objective of improving citizens’ quality of life and boosting economic activity.

“Engineer Umahi has been one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers — passionate about the job and delivering durable roads and bridges that will last for about a century,” the President said.

He further noted that Umahi does not merely oversee projects from his office or depend on reports from subordinates, but is constantly on site nationwide, personally monitoring construction work to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals.

President Tinubu said he joined the minister and his family in celebrating the occasion, wishing him good health and renewed strength as he continues to serve the nation
