Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reinforced its commitment to staff welfare with the commissioning of 36 units of two-bedroom staff apartments at Auta Ba Lefi, a move the Corps says reflects its belief that investing in personnel is essential to improving operational performance and road safety across the country.
The initiative reflects a broader push by the Corps to link staff motivation directly to operational excellence, with the leadership maintaining that a well-housed and adequately cared-for workforce is better positioned to deliver on the agency’s mandate of ensuring safer roads nationwide.
The housing project was commissioned by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, during a ceremony attended by traditional rulers, local government officials and other community stakeholders.
Among those present were the Esu of Karu and Chairman of the Karu Traditional Council, HRH Dr. Babba Panya Luka; the Esu Kodepe, HRH Joseph Sabo; and the Deputy Chairman of Karu Local Government Council, Hon. Ibrahim Bulus.
Speaking at the event, FRSC officials reaffirmed the Corps’ guiding philosophy of “People first. Performance always,” stressing that staff welfare remains central to achieving sustained operational efficiency.
According to the Corps, the newly commissioned apartments will address accommodation challenges faced by personnel posted to the area by providing modern and comfortable housing for officers and their families.
Officials described the project as another milestone in building a motivated workforce and a stronger FRSC, noting that it forms part of the agency’s broader efforts to improve the wellbeing of its personnel as a strategy for enhancing institutional performance nationwide.
They explained that improved living conditions would not only boost staff morale but also strengthen commitment to duty and improve the Corps’ capacity to fulfil its road safety responsibilities.
Traditional rulers and community leaders welcomed the project, commending the FRSC for extending development to the Karu area and expressing optimism that the initiative would further strengthen collaboration between the Corps, traditional institutions and the local government.
The commissioning of the housing estate underscores the FRSC’s continuing investment in staff welfare as a key component of its broader strategy to build a motivated workforce capable of delivering safer roads and better public service across Nigeria.
