Officers of the Public Relations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have emerged as the overall best performers at the graduation ceremony of Senior Course 14 of the Nigeria Customs Service Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, reaffirming the unit’s reputation for excellence, professionalism and strategic leadership.

At the graduation ceremony held on Friday at the Ahmed Makarfi Hall of the College, 50 officers successfully completed the prestigious senior course. Chief Superintendent of Customs Ridwan Yusuf was named the Overall Best Graduating Student, capping an outstanding performance with three additional awards in recognition of his academic excellence and professional competence.

Chief Superintendent of Customs Nuruddeen Sa’idu also distinguished himself by emerging as the Second Best Graduating Student, completing a clean sweep of the top honours for the NCS Public Relations Unit.

Reacting to the achievement, the National Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada, described the feat as a source of immense pride for the Service and the Public Relations Unit.

He said the exceptional performance of the officers reflects the intellectual depth, administrative competence and dedication that define the Public Relations Unit, stressing that the department is not only responsible for managing the image of the Service but also produces officers capable of providing strategic leadership and excelling in rigorous professional development programmes.

Maiwada further noted that, in keeping with the tradition of the College, the outstanding performance of the two officers could earn them appointments as Directing Staff, where they would contribute to mentoring and developing future leaders of the Nigeria Customs Service.

While celebrating their achievements and career progression, he acknowledged that their likely departure from the Public Relations Unit would leave a significant void due to their professionalism, experience and invaluable contributions to the team.

Congratulating the officers on behalf of the Public Relations Unit and the Nigeria Customs Service, Maiwada urged them to continue exemplifying the values of excellence, integrity and leadership in their future assignments.

“You have made the entire Nigeria Customs Service and the PR Unit immensely proud. As you transition into this next chapter of mentorship and excellence, know that you carry our highest respect and full support,” he said.
