Kano, Jigawa, Katsina states face outage as TCN repairs 330kV Kumbotso Substation
The Nigerian Independent System Operator NISO has disclosed that there will be power outage that would affect Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States, scheduled to take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, 28th June 2026, to facilitate essential maintenance works at the 330kV Kumbotso Substation by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
A statement made available to the media explained that the upgrade is a critical investment that would strengthen the national grid and enhance the transmission capacity of the network, thereby improving electricity supply to customers in the region and the overall resilience of Nigeria’s power system.
“During the maintenance period, electricity supply will be temporarily interrupted in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States.
“We regret any inconvenience this outage may cause and sincerely appreciate the public for their patience, understanding and cooperation.”
