NAICOM disowns fake recruitment advertisement, warns public against fraudsters

By Onu Okorie

The National Insurance Commission NAICOM has distanced itself from a purported recruitment advertisement being circulated online, describing it as false, misleading, and the handiwork of fraudulent individuals seeking to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.

In a statement issued by its management, the Commission said its attention had been drawn to the fake recruitment notice being shared through various online platforms by dubious persons claiming to be acting on behalf of the agency.

NAICOM categorically stated that it had not authorized any recruitment exercise through the platform referenced in the advertisement or through any unofficial channel.

The Commission urged members of the public to disregard the advertisement entirely and avoid submitting personal information or making any payments in response to such fraudulent notices.

It advised prospective job seekers and the general public to rely exclusively on its official communication channels, including its verified website and recognized government platforms, for authentic information regarding recruitment and other activities.

“NAICOM does not engage in recruitment through unofficial or unverified online links and will always publicize legitimate employment opportunities through reputable and authorized channels,” the statement said.

The Commission further warned that individuals or groups involved in creating and disseminating the fake recruitment information were engaging in unlawful activities and could face legal consequences.

NAICOM called on the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious recruitment claims to the appropriate authorities.

The warning comes amid growing concerns over the increasing use of fake employment advertisements by fraudsters to obtain personal information and extort money from unsuspecting job seekers. The Commission reiterated its commitment to protecting the public from such scams and ensuring that all official recruitment processes remain transparent and credible.
