Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has inaugurated the national and state executive committees of the Bello Muhammad Goronyo (BMG) Associates for Asiwaju/Shettima 2027, with a call for peaceful, inclusive and responsible political engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The organisation, which is designed to coordinate grassroots activities and strengthen stakeholder engagement across the seven North-West states, was formally inaugurated on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Syde Resort, Raba Road, Kaduna.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of eight Toyota vehicles by Goronyo to the organisation—one each for the seven North-West state structures and another for the national executive.
The vehicles, according to the organisers, are intended to support mobility, grassroots mobilisation, stakeholder engagement and coordination of activities across the region.
Speaking at the occasion, Goronyo linked the Federal Government’s infrastructure programme to broader objectives of economic growth, improved connectivity and national integration.
He cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, Calabar-Abuja/Trans-Saharan corridor and Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe corridor among major projects being pursued by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He also listed the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano and Zaria-Gusau-Sokoto corridors, alongside developments in the rail sector, including the Kaduna-Kano rail project and Kano City Rail Service.
According to him, the projects are intended to improve connectivity, facilitate trade, open up economic opportunities and strengthen links between communities and regions.
Goronyo further pointed to other government initiatives, including the student loan scheme, as part of efforts aimed at expanding opportunities in transportation, education and the wider economy.
Calls for peaceful political engagement
Turning to the political environment, the minister urged members of the organisation to prioritise unity, peaceful coexistence and responsible engagement as political activities intensify ahead of 2027.
He expressed support for President Tinubu completing his constitutional tenure and seeking a second term, arguing that the North had previously produced the president under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Goronyo, however, urged the newly inaugurated executives to carry out their responsibilities with discipline, accountability and dedication, while remaining responsive to the concerns of citizens.
He said the inauguration represented another stage in the expansion of the organisation’s structures and its engagement with communities across the North-West.
The event also provided an opportunity for political and community stakeholders to emphasise the need for greater participation by women and young people.
The Kaduna State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, called for stronger engagement with women and youths, particularly on issues of security, economic reforms, infrastructure and empowerment.
A youth representative and Regional Youth Leader, Abdullahi Abubakar Yola, urged young people to reject violence and resist attempts to use them for activities capable of causing conflict.
He called for greater attention to education, skills acquisition, employment and youth empowerment.
The Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group, Dr Umar Tanko Yakasai, stressed the importance of unity, grassroots organisation, respect and collective action in building the structures of BMG Associates.
Organisation traces roots to 2023 campaign
In his remarks, the Secretary-General and Director of Strategy and Communication of BMG Associates, Engr. Harisu H. M. Jibrila, said the organisation emerged from relationships established during the 2023 presidential campaign of President Tinubu.
He said the promoters had worked with Goronyo during the campaign and observed what he described as his leadership and organisational capacity.
Jibrila said the experience informed the decision to establish a coordinated platform capable of engaging communities and stakeholders throughout the North-West.
The event also featured commendations of Goronyo’s leadership by several speakers, including Islamic scholar and member of the Kaduna State Special Hajj Committee, Sheikh Haliru Maraya.
Maraya stressed the importance of character, trust and responsible leadership, while urging stakeholders to effectively communicate government development interventions to citizens.
A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Nasiru Shehu Bodinga, called for sustained coordination among the national, state, local government and ward structures.
Other speakers, including Dr A. A. Mai Agogo, Hajiya Sa’adatu Dogon Bauchi of the National Population Commission, and Barrister Nasiru Regachikun, urged the new executives to remain disciplined, trustworthy and committed to peaceful community engagement.
Goronyo also paid tribute to former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, whom he described as a father, leader and mentor.
The inauguration attracted political leaders, government officials, traditional and community stakeholders, women and youth representatives from across the North-West.
