Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc AEDC has promoted 547 employees and approved 579 Step Increments following the conclusion of its 2025 Performance Appraisal Exercise. A statement made available to the media in Abuja weekend explained that the action was a move by the Company to recognise talent and rewarding performance.
The Company described the milestone as part of a deliberate investment in its workforce as it pushes toward becoming a customer-centric, high-performing electricity distribution company with global standards and Pan-African ambitions.
The promotions and increments, which were approved by AEDC’s Management, honour staff who demonstrated strong commitment, professionalism and performance in advancing the Company’s strategic goals.
Reacting to the announcement, AEDC’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chijioke Okwuokenye, called it another major step in the Company’s ongoing people transformation drive.
“Our people remain our greatest asset and the foundation upon which AEDC’s future will be built,” Okwuokenye said. “Today’s announcement is more than a reward for performance; it is a reaffirmation of our belief that excellence should always be recognised, talent should be nurtured and hard work should create opportunities for growth.”
He added that the Company is building an organisation where employees can pursue rewarding careers, achieve their potential, and help shape one of Africa’s leading electricity distribution companies.
According to Okwuokenye, AEDC is deliberately fostering a workplace culture built on merit, continuous learning, innovation and collaboration, with employee wellbeing positioned as a core pillar of the Company’s long-term strategy.
AEDC also had a message for employees who did not benefit from this appraisal cycle, urging them to stay committed. The Company noted that its performance management process is structured to support ongoing growth, skills development and future opportunities for advancement.
As it works to strengthen operational efficiency, improve customer experience and modernise its operations, AEDC said it remains focused on investing in its workforce and building an inclusive, high-performance culture — with the goal of becoming an employer of choice in Nigeria’s power sector and a globally respected, Pan-African electricity distribution company.
