Nigeria Customs Service NCS has released N7.61 billion to nine Pension Fund Administrators PFAs for onward payment to 4,237 retirees. This is following Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi’s reaffirmed commitment to the welfare of its retired personnel.
Adeniyi disclosed this on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, during a dialogue session with NCS retirees, explaining that the funds had already been disbursed to the PFAs for payment into the individual accounts of the beneficiaries.
A breakdown presented at the meeting showed Access-ARM Pension Managers accounting for 1,223 beneficiaries, Premium Pension 2,268, Leadway Pensions 403, TrustFund Pensions 156, FCMB Pensions 144, Veritas Glanvills Pensions 28, Norrenberger Pensions 11, and Fidelity Pension Managers four — bringing the total to 4,237 retirees.
Addressing the gathering, Adeniyi said the Service must remain strong and financially capable of meeting its obligations to both serving officers and retirees, noting that the welfare of personnel who had dedicated decades of service could not be separated from the institution’s future.
He urged retirees to sustain constructive engagement with the Service, saying the dialogue was called to address their concerns and suggestions, promote better understanding, and reduce the impact of rumours and unofficial information on relations between the Service and its retired personnel.
The session was attended by the Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resources Development, DCG Tijjani Abe, and other members of the Management Team, who assured retirees that their concerns would receive appropriate attention at the Service’s Board and Management sittings.
In response, the retirees expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General and the Management Team for engaging with their concerns and creating a platform for direct dialogue. They appealed for the engagement to be sustained as a way of strengthening ties between serving and retired personnel.
The dialogue comes amid ongoing federal efforts to improve retiree pensions, including a review of statutory provisions such as Section 15(4) of the Pension Reform Act 2014, in line with Section 173(3) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
