The Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has noted that the establishment of the IDPs in Camp Raba Local Government Area of Sokoto State demonstrates the Sokoto State Government’s commitment to providing safety, dignity, and renewed hope to citizens affected by displacement and other socioeconomic challenges.

Goronyo, who formally flagged off the Internally Displaced Persons IDPs Camp in Raba Local Government Area of Sokoto State, described the project as a landmark humanitarian intervention that reflects the compassion and people-centred leadership of the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Goronyo congratulated Governor Ahmed Aliyu on his third anniversary in office and commended his administration for prioritising social welfare, human development, and the protection of vulnerable citizens across the State.

According to him, “government performance is measured not only by the physical infrastructure it delivers but also by the care and support extended to the most vulnerable members of society.” Goronyo further observed that the project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in the areas of social protection, human capital development, security, and inclusive growth.

He stated that the camp would provide a secure and conducive environment for displaced persons while serving as a platform for rehabilitation, empowerment, and reintegration, thereby improving the quality of life of beneficiaries and restoring hope to affected families.

He noted that through strategic investments in social welfare, infrastructure, economic empowerment, and security, the Sokoto State Government is complementing the efforts of the Federal Government in delivering meaningful development and improving the lives of citizens.

The Minister emphasized that the various reforms and development initiatives being implemented by Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto reflect the spirit of cooperative governance and demonstrate the important role of state governments in translating national development objectives into practical benefits for the people.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to supporting programmes and initiatives that promote sustainable development, social stability, and improved living conditions for Nigerians.

Rt. Hon. Goronyo also acknowledged the contributions of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, members of the National and State Assemblies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, and other stakeholders whose support continues to drive the development of Sokoto State.

He urged the people of the State to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, stressing that development is a collective responsibility that requires active citizen participation.

The Minister concluded by formally flagging off the Internally Displaced Persons IDPs Camp and expressed confidence that the project would have a transformative impact on the lives of beneficiaries while contributing significantly to peace, social stability, and human development in Sokoto State.
