Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding Nigeria’s road infrastructure with the official flag-off of the ₦178.12 billion Mando–Birnin Gwari Road project in Kaduna State.

Speaking during the ceremony in Mando on Tuesday, the Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, described the 122-kilometre highway as a strategic investment that will improve connectivity, facilitate trade, enhance security, and unlock the economic potential of communities along the corridor.

He stated that the project reflects the Federal Government’s determination to provide durable infrastructure that supports economic growth, promotes national integration, and improves the quality of life of Nigerians.

The Minister explained that the road would serve as a major transport link between northern and southern Nigeria, reducing travel time, lowering transportation costs, improving access to markets, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening security operations across the region.

Rt. Hon. Goronyo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for placing infrastructure development at the heart of his Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the ongoing transformation of Nigeria’s road network is a clear demonstration of the President’s commitment to national development, economic prosperity, and the welfare of Nigerians.

He said the numerous landmark road projects being executed across the country under President Tinubu’s administration have continued to earn the confidence and support of Nigerians. The Minister therefore reaffirmed his unwavering support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence that a second term would consolidate the gains already recorded in infrastructure, economic reforms, security, and overall national development.

Rt. Hon. Goronyo also praised the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for his visionary leadership and dedication to delivering durable road infrastructure through innovative engineering solutions, particularly the adoption of rigid pavement technology.

The Minister further acknowledged the support and collaboration of the Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Governor Senator Uba Sani, describing the partnership between the Federal and State Governments as essential to delivering impactful infrastructure projects.

Calling for collective support, Rt. Hon. Goronyo urged traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, and residents to cooperate fully with the contractor to ensure the smooth and timely execution of the project. He also charged the contractor to adhere strictly to quality standards and the approved completion timeline.

He expressed optimism that upon completion, the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road would improve transportation, stimulate commerce, enhance security, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Kaduna State and the nation.
